
Who is RISA?
Racing Information
Services Australia (RISA) is the official thoroughbred
racing industry organisation responsible for the compilation
of race fields & form and the maintenance of race results
across Australia.
RISA is an
independent not-for-profit industry organisation whose
surpluses are distributed back to the industry.
RISA’s
position within the industry
There are over 2,600
race meetings comprising over 19,500 races conducted at over
350 race tracks in Australia each year, making Australia the
second largest thoroughbred industry in the world based on
the number of races.
As a national body,
RISA is uniquely placed to provide an innovative range of
products & services across the industry. In doing so, RISA
is able to achieve considerable efficiency and cost savings
for industry stakeholders.
RISA’s
products & services
RISA was formed in
2003 and re-launched in 2006. Its primary objective is the
encouragement and promotion of horse races by establishing
and conducting a national consolidated racing information
services business to service the Australian horse racing
industry and other users of horse racing information.
Within the
industry
RISA provides a
number of integrated products and services to the industry
including principal racing authorities, race clubs, owners,
trainers, breeders, jockeys and punters.
Commercialising information to third parties
RISA also fulfils an
important role in commercialising the industry’s racing
materials on a national basis, bringing in outside revenue
through the sale of a variety of products and services.

RISA and others
working with it, including the Principal Racing Authorities,
employ significant labour at considerable expense in
collecting, compiling, verifying and managing racing
materials. RISA and others working with it, including the
Principal Racing Authorities, also exercise skill, judgment
and knowledge in selecting, handicapping, ordering,
compiling and finalising these racing materials. RISA is
either the owner of copyright in this material or the
licensee from the PRA’s of copyright in this information
depending on the type of material in question.

including fields, form and results is subject to copyright
which is owned by RISA and the Principal Racing Authorities
